This is a change of date from the original 12/18. Perhaps this new date works better for everyone...

Come to a pleasant and peaceful gathering with people of all ages interested in Eckhart's work. It is a great way to release the tensions of the week and enjoy meeting like-spirited people in an open, friendly, and mellow space.

I propose to initiate a silent 10 minute meditation pre & post the video recording, followed by the video recordings related topic focused open discussion. I do see that this varies from a traditional Silent Meditation Group & borders closely to a social/gathering event. Thusly, I will comply & enforce the format of the silent meditation meeting & close w/ the social/gathering discussion.

We will drink varying beverages, have silent meditation together, and watch a selection from another wonderful Eckhart Tolle video recording on DVD, namely:

The Flowering of the Human Consciousness , disc 1 (1:08), chapters 1-8; (1) The nature of presence, (2) The emerging of Consciousness, (3) Forgetting your name, (4) True self knowledge, (5) The delusion of the future, (6) Our longing for freedom, (7) Overcoming the need to label & (8) The spaciousness around all things.

Our meeting will take place in my apt in San Leandro, a spacious living, dining room. I am a 10 minute walk from the San Leandro BART station. I would also provide a shuttle to & from BART, as it is dark early in the evening, and I'd ensure a safe passage.

I have 8 chairs, but feel free to bring a mat or pillow if you would like to sit on the floor during the silent meditation.

This meeting will run about 2 hours.

All are welcome!

(I live on the second & third floors of a secure community & am not wheelchair accessible.)

I only have Japanese herb, green & chamomile teas. If you have a favorite, bring it to share with others. Sadly, I don't have a collection of tea cups, but have ample glasses that might suffice. If you have a Tibetan Bell to sound please bring that. I will provide the flowers & vase. If you have something that you think the group would benefit from, please bring that to share.

I will be glad to take phone calls, or emails of any suggestions to get this meeting to work. I additionally will send out further instructions to get though the locked secure gate w/ a code. Parking is plentiful on Rose/Coburn streets (off San Leandro Blvd).

  “ Sticking w/ the intended format: 10 minutes of silence then the film w/ 8 chapters (1:08) w/o a sound of audience chatter. Ten minutes of silence followed & was very comfortable, slowly we got up, prepared snacks yet a gentle & peaceful silence prevailed. There was no overt insatiable need to speak. There was a serene softness & gentleness in the absence of speech that extended 6-8 additional minutes. Eventually, there were references to the film (as per the format of the meeting). As others spoke, there was reflection, thought, silence & no rush to engage debate or flex ego. The evening ended after snacks, about 20 minutes later. What moved me the most was the gradual peace which grew in (& from) the silent presence of others, blossoming at the shared uniqueness but likeness of the groups individuals. It really was a wonderful & beautiful experience & one of which I am not all that accustomed to. Yes, we all are an individual beautiful flower in that bouquet of flowers (life) :)) ”
